PRESS: Russia can unite surveillance cameras in single system

MOSCOW, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- The government plans to create a single system to analyze video from all municipal cameras in Russia, with investment in development and installation of smart cameras seen at 250 billion rubles over five years, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday citing sources.

The platform, called National Platform of Video Surveillance, will unite systems of video surveillance working in the country’s cities.

National Technologies could become a subcontractor. State-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom and state corporation Rostec hold 49% and 51% in the company, respectively. Rostelecom will deal with software and Rostec with hardware.

The companies declined to comment.

The Industry and Trade Ministry said the initiative “comes from the industry.”
